Colour rings for ospreys in Latvia

Since 2007, we have been ringing ospreys in Latvia with plastic colour rings.

In Latvia we use rings with following colors:  

For nestlings we use red rings with white code – 1 letter (A, C or E) and 2 numbers turned 90° to be read from bottom to top or 3 numbers.  

For nestlings we use red rings with white code

For adults we use black rings with white code – number and letter. Some birds has also red or green colour ring without code above the colour or metal ring (fig. 4).
